Services

We provide completely impartial and expert water treatment services, offering unbiased advice on the leading technologies and their suitability for specific applications.

Our Services Include

Best Available Technology Selection

Our laboratory is equipped with extensive test rigs, pilot-scale equipment, and transportable commercial-scale treatment plants. This wide range of facilities allows us to offer long-term assessment and demonstration trials. We can conduct these either in our laboratory or at your site. Thus, before committing to full-scale options, you can prove the effectiveness of different technologies. We guide you in selecting the best available process technology, keeping your capital and operating budgets in mind.

Process Selection

Meeting tightening discharge consents or reducing off-site disposal costs can be challenging. Therefore, we offer comprehensive services backed by over 25 years of experience and an extensive database of pilot plant data.

We select and design processes that target specific discharge consent criteria, such as:

Our team combines scientific, process, and engineering expertise, especially in treating industrial effluents and fluids from oil and gas production. Additionally, we specialize in the design, procurement, and commissioning of wastewater treatment plants.

Treatability Assessments

Treatability assessments and longer-term test-rig trials provide detailed operating data. This information helps to quantify major design parameters for each bespoke application. Consequently, preliminary plant designs and cost estimates can be produced. In many cases, the data is sufficient to specify a full-scale plant design. However, for some effluents, larger-scale measurements may still be necessary to finalize accurate designs.

Economical Process Solutions

We believe every project deserves an affordable and effective solution. Therefore, we offer process solutions tailored to your engineering budget and operational constraints.

Each project is assigned a dedicated project manager, ensuring we meet your business objectives, financial needs, and operational realities. Additionally, we help you identify procurement solutions that best match your requirements.

Research & Development

At FPT, we operate a world-class research and development laboratory. Our team of experienced chemical and process engineers designs bespoke wastewater treatment solutions.

Moreover, we are constantly researching novel and disruptive technologies to improve existing processes. Using both in-house academic expertise and open-source intelligence, we monitor industry advancements and assess emerging wastewater technologies.

R&D wastewater treatment programmes include:

Plant Engineering & Supply

We offer a complete range of engineering and procurement services for test, pilot, and full-scale treatment plants. These services align with both your capital and operating budgets. Although our primary role is preparing engineering for clients’ selected EPC partners, we also have in-house capabilities to engineer, construct, and commission process technologies. In fact, we have designed and built most of the test rigs, pilot plants, and demonstration plants in our laboratory. We can offer turnkey plant supply solutions for physical, chemical, and biological wastewater processes across the entire treatment spectrum. Furthermore, we provide commissioning, training, and ongoing technical support.

Examples of technologies we continue to develop include:

Catalytic Wet Air Oxidation (CWAO):
The CWAO process, jointly developed with British Gas plc, remains the best available technology for treating highly toxic waste. We continue to optimize the process design and catalyst performance.

Ceramic High Flux (CHF) Filtration:
Invented by our team, CHF is a novel ceramic membrane filtration process ideal for high flow rates of effluents, such as oilfield-produced water. It delivers treated filtrate suitable for direct environmental discharge. Additionally, the technology is applicable to acid mine drainage, ballast water, and desalination pre-treatment, with parallel R&D programs underway.
